Advice and company

We offer advice and company on questions of asylum and immigration law free of charge to all people who come to us. We are not a professional counselling institution, however we can rely on our experience, our contacts with dedicated lawyers and an assorted collection of information materials. On principle, everyone is welcome to drop in during our opening hours without appointment. Because advising people can take a while and we usually have several guests at a time, you should bring some time and patience though. Furthermore, we accompany guests to the central foreigners’ office (Zentrale Ausländerbehörde) and other authorities. We do this to support our guests against everyday racism, to be present as witnesses and to offer practical assistance. If you would like someone to accompany you, it is especially important to come in early to allow for detailed preparation.

Advising and accompanying means to us to show solidarity to our guests and support them by the means available to us. We are therefore generally partial to our guests and do not cooperate with the German authorities under any circumstances.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer advice on all questions since the subject matters at hand can be very complex. We can, however, connect you to different counselling institutions and lawyers in Hamburg.

Precisely, we offer:

  • filing of applications

  • support on questions regarding your asylum procedure

  • support in reading and writing letters

  • company on visits to public offices and other institutions

  • connections to lawyers, interpreters etc.

  • support in writing job applications
